Common Questions

Your Questions Answered

Who can join?

Any male player aged 65 or over is welcome. We have two divisions — 65 Plus and Senior (70+) — so there's a level for every pace of play.

Do I need to be an experienced player?

No. We welcome players returning to the ice after years away, as well as those who have been playing their whole lives. Skill level varies across the league, and that's part of what makes it work.

Where do games take place?

All games are held at the Gale Centre in Niagara Falls, Ontario.

When do games run?

The 65 Plus Division plays Mondays at 10:00 am and 11:15 am. The Senior Division (70+) plays Wednesdays at the same times.

How long is a season?

Each session runs 12 weeks — 8 regular season games plus 2 playoff games per team.

How are teams organized?

Teams are re-drafted at the start of each session, which means you'll meet new teammates regularly and the whole league stays connected.

What does a game look like?

Two 20-minute stop-time periods. Up to 10 skaters plus one goaltender per team. Two referees and one timekeeper for every game.

Is there anything beyond the games?

Yes — and many members say this is their favourite part. After games, the league gathers at TAPS Brewhouse near the Gale Centre for post-game lunches and conversation. There are also end-of-season celebrations each session.

I wasn't sure I'd fit in after so many years away from the game. By the second session, I felt like I'd been here for years.
